It's been a funny old week!

Dad on a ramble

What with being 'up to the neck' in pig earlier this week, getting a dog yesterday, and my dad's birthday today; it's been a funny sort of week.

To clear up any possible misunderstandings, the photo is of dad not either of the others! It's his best side!

I got up this morning with the intention of making a chocolate fudge cake but, on opening the fridge, found that we were about out of butter. He'll have to have an 'official' birthday, like the Queen, when we have been shopping!. The pig's been pretty well documented in my previous posts. I'll post details of the cure for ham that I used when I can get around to it. Posting details of cures online always worries me slightly as I want to be clear in my instructions so that others may follow them safely. This isn't always easy when your grammatical skills are as poor as mine.

The major event of the week has been a new addition to the family called Alfie.

I have finally 'given in' and agreed to my youngest daughter having a dog. She's been nagging like a 3-year-old for ages – done everything but throw herself on the floor of the supermarket screaming! It wouldn't be so bad if she wasn't in her twenties! He's a miniature snausher schnauzer. Should have got a corgi, it's easier to spell! He's got a pedigree and everything; I reckon he's better qualified than I am!

He needs a bath!
