Grant for Local Food Schemes

Local Food Grants logoLocal Food, a new scheme funded by The Big Lottery Fund will make £50 million available to 'not-for-profit' groups to make locally grown food accessible and affordable to local communities.

The scheme has been developed by a consortium of organisations, and is managed on their behalf by the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts (RSWT).

Their web-site www.localfoodgrants.org says:

"Grants from £2,000 up to £500,000 will be awarded to not-for-profit groups and organisations in England delivering such projects as growing, processing, marketing and distributing local food; composting and raising awareness of the benefits of such activities."

It goes on to say

"Grants from £2,000 up to £500,000 will be awarded to not-for-profit groups and organisations in England delivering such projects as growing, processing, marketing and distributing local food; composting and raising awareness of the benefits of such activities. "

The range of groups who can apply is broad and grants up to £20,000 do not require any 'matched funding' making it ideal for smaller community groups, churches and schools
