Withdrawing Food from Sale

How many people ever hear about food being recalled by the Supermarkets? How often does it happen? Once a month maybe? Twice a month? It's far more often than you think ... Just look at the Food Standards Agency web-site and you will be surprised. There have been 8 food products withdrawn in the last 5 working days. Most of them sold by the major supermarkets, many their own brand products.

It's ironic that the very places you expect to employ the expert staff trained to meet all the Food Hygiene regulations and to have all their Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) documentation in order are the ones that have problems.

When will the authorities learn that asking for details of food hygiene and hazard on a piece of paper only shows who is the best at writing on a piece of paper; not who has the best practices.

I have no evidence, but it appears to me that most of the problems with unsafe food are caused by so called professionals. A good reason to source your products locally so you can judge for yourself whether the hygiene levels are up to the standard you expect.
