Around the Web

I had my hair cut today so until the anaesthetic has worn off I can't cook or drive!

So just a brief round-up of what's being reported around the web today. The Food Standards Agency has issued 'Guidance for caterers in public institutions' including sample menus – the problem when I was in hospital in February was not the menu – it was the cooking. The Leicester General Hospital may have had a menu by each bed telling patients how good and healthy the food is, but the food proved otherwise. Three days to get the salad I had ordered and the fresh fruit never did appear!

The Guardian Unlimited, and Observer Word of Mouth Blog, report on a cook-book based on the Sunday Post's 'The Broon's' comic strip. The book has come under fire from nutritionists. That should increase its sales nicely!

The Farmer's Guardian reports on the massive increase in the cultivation of GM crops in Europe. Also, on the take-over bid for Sainsbury's.

Finally, from The Foodie List, the chance to buy exact replicas of the 60's Noddy and Big Ears egg cups!
